Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Community Music Therapy Workshops’
Organize free music therapy sessions for under-served children to improve mental health, build self-confidence, and strengthen community bonds.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Reflective Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m combining my passion for creative arts and sports psychology with my skills as a music or arts therapist to launch a cool project. I’ll be a groundbreaking music therapist focusing on mental health, aimed at making kids healthier and helping more of them survive..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA – TSA offers a platform for integrating creative problem-solving with technical skills through various competitions, ideal for running innovative community projects.
FBLA – FBLA emphasizes business leadership, delegation, risk management, and consensus-building, providing essential skills for managing community-focused initiatives.
Competitions
This introductory competition builds digital audio and production skills that are directly applicable to creating therapeutic music pieces, essential for the Community Music Therapy Workshops.
FBLA – FBLA Community Service Project
This introductory competition focuses on community engagement and project management, which align with the passion project’s goal of delivering community music therapy sessions.
This competition hones storytelling and digital media skills that can be used to document and promote the workshops, increasing awareness and advocacy for music therapy.
This advanced competition allows the student to develop a strategic business model for scaling the Community Music Therapy Workshops, demonstrating growth and sustainability.
Community Service:
Community Music Outreach Program
Why it fits: This activity directly supports the passion project by engaging the local community in music therapy sessions, promoting social inclusion and mental well-being.
Implementation: Plan and execute music therapy workshops in zip code 30021 during the Spring semesters, collaborating with local schools and community centers for venue and participant outreach.
Skills Development: Event planning, community engagement, interpersonal communication
